Chinese college basketball team competes on campus

The men’s basketball team from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, is visiting the Danforth Campus through Sunday, Dec. 5, to take part in the 27th annual Lopata Classic basketball tournament. Tsinghua University is one of 25 partner institutions through WUSTL’s McDonnell International Scholars Academy. FULL STORY

Greenhouse gases turned into fuel

Liviu M. Mirica, PhD, assistant professor of chemistry in Arts & Sciences, is working on a novel approach to turning greenhouse gases into fuel. Metal catalysts might be able to turn gases such as methane and carbon dioxide into liquid fuels without producing more carbon waste in the process. FULL STORY

Students dance in annual showcase 

Washington University Dance Theatre, the annual showcase of professionally choreographed works performed by student dancers, will present Living in the Momentum Dec. 3, 4 and 5 in Edison Theatre. Free HIV testing offered for World AIDS Day

The School of Medicine’s Infectious Diseases Clinic will offer extended hours for free, confidential testing in recognition of World AIDS Day, which is observed annually today, Dec. 1. Testing will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 through Dec. 9 and no appointment is necessary. FULL STORY

Previously, the shuttle operated from 7 p.m.-2:30 a.m. The Campus2Home shuttle provides a safe ride home from the Danforth Campus for those living in the neighborhoods of Skinker-DeBaliviere, Loop South, north of The Loop and just south of the Danforth Campus.
